State Planning Framework

The WAPC is guided by a number of policies addressing both spatial areas of the State as well as various planning topics. The recently released Western Australian Planning Framework provides an overview and easy access to these key documents in hierarchical format.

The policy framework ranges from the State Planning Strategy, and State Planning Policies (made under the Planning and Development Act 2005) and various regional strategies addressing particular planning issues and identifying strategies for the various areas of the State.

More detailed policies, adopted by the WAPC, are prepared addressing particular issues and form part of the suite of Development Control and Operational Policies and Planning Bulletins.

The planning framework has been operational for some time, however the relationship between the policies is now clearer as a result of the Planning Framework.

More information on the framework, along with links to the variou policies within the framework, can be found on the Department's State Planning Framework page.
