Nomad Energy sought development approval for a 100MW/400MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in the Shire of Merredin adjacent to the existing Western Power substation and operating solar farm.   Land Insights sought to gain development approval through the Regional Development Assessment Panel (RDAP) pathway for the development.   In undertaking the work, Land Insights worked with a number of co-consultants including Bushfire and Noise to provide an assessment of the application and its suitability in its proposed location in relation to the already existing infrastructure.   On the 18th of April 2024 the RDAP granted development approval of the application with a 4-year timeframe for substantial commencement of the development forming one of the conditions.   As the refinement of the design took place and minor amendments to the original approval were required Land Insights lodged a Form 2 with the Shire and gained development approval for the minor amendments.
