The Cottesloe Town Centre GIS mapping project was a collaboration between the Town of Cottesloe and the Shire of Peppermint Grove. Together, they explored options for the centre’s future using a Designscape planning approach. This method brought together consultants, local staff, and community members to co-create a shared vision for the area.
Land Insights provided GIS and spatial analysis to support the planning and urban design process. Using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, we created a detailed geodatabase covering land use, transport access, built form, and commercial activity. The spatial data helped the project team assess development potential, urban structure, and future land use possibilities.
As part of the Cottesloe Town Centre GIS mapping services, our team also captured high-resolution aerial imagery using Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA). We processed the drone data to generate surface and terrain models that revealed important topographic details. This work added a strong visual and analytical layer to the planning process.
To ensure accessibility, we built an interactive online GIS viewer and supplied a user manual to guide the project team.
This project shows the power of GIS tools in shaping thoughtful urban outcomes. Land Insights’ spatial analysis supported evidence-based decisions and clear communication throughout the project.
