Katanning Structure Plans – Residential and Industrial Precincts

Land Insights delivered three integrated Katanning structure plans for the Shire of Katanning, covering residential and industrial growth areas within the townsite. The project included:
- Piesse Lake Residential Precinct
- Henry Street (WAMMCO) Industrial Area
- Katanning Saleyards Industrial Site
Prepared concurrently under one contract, these structure plans supported the Shire’s strategic growth objectives and planning compliance requirements.
Our team managed a group of specialist sub-consultants including geotechnical, bushfire, civil engineering, and contaminated sites experts. Together, we compiled detailed background reports and iterative structure plans for each location. These were supported by indicative lot layouts, staging plans, and infrastructure coordination strategies.
The Katanning structure plans addressed a full suite of planning considerations such as land use designation (residential or industrial), public open space, road and movement networks, stormwater and water management, activity centres, and developer contributions. We also considered bushfire risk, site servicing, and appropriate staging to align with local demand and infrastructure delivery.
Throughout the process, Land Insights worked closely with the Shire, landowners, and the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (DPLH) to ensure that all plans were practical, policy-aligned, and ready for implementation. The structure plans were formally endorsed by both the Shire of Katanning and DPLH.
