Land Insights supported Midland Brick and Brikmakers in managing the complex regulatory landscape of their clay extraction operations across Western Australia. These sites often require multiple concurrent approvals, including Planning (Development) Approvals, Extractive Industry Licences, and DWER-issued Clearing Permits.

To streamline compliance and improve operational oversight, Land Insights developed a centralised Midland Brick clay extraction approvals database. This digital tool captures and tracks approval types, expiry dates, and ongoing compliance requirements for each clay pit operated by Midland Brick.

We built and customised the database using Quickbase, a cloud-based platform that allows secure, real-time access for the Midland Brick Environment and Planning Team. The system provides automated reminders for approval expiry, generates compliance reports, and offers a dashboard for strategic planning across sites.

By aligning regulatory requirements with operational data, the Midland Brick clay extraction approvals database reduces risk, improves efficiency, and ensures nothing falls through the cracks. It has now become a critical business tool for the long-term management of Midland Brick’s planning and environmental approvals.
